Leagues Apart is a documentary sports series with a quirky and humorous edge. Sideline’s first ever commission, the 6-part RTE documentary sports series featured BAFTA and British Comedy Award winning comedy actor Ardal O’Hanlon, exploring the history and passion of great soccer derbies across Europe.

The widely acclaimed travelogues featured visits to Barcelona, Rome, Krakow, Amsterdam/Rotterdam, Istanbul and Athens. At the core of the series is how the game of soccer can divide citizens not just for 90 minutes but down through decades and generations.  These snapshots of city and regional rivalry coincided with the build-up and aftermath of the relevant ‘derby’, with exclusive footage around these explosive sporting occasions.

Nominated for an Irish Film & TV Award, Sideline is in development for an international follow up series and seeking an international broadcast partner
