The Great Irish Bake Off
Viewed as Britain’s most watched show of 2014 & 2015, the highly anticipated series hit Irish screens in 2013 on TV3 for 3 seasons and proved to a huge success. Over the 8 hour series 12 creative bakers pushed their skills to the limit as they battled it out to be crowned “Ireland’s Best Amateur Baker”.
Presenter Anna Nolan showcased the rising talent, along with expert judges – Executive Pastry Chef at The Merrion Hotel Paul Kelly and for series 3 a new face – food writer, blogger and Irish Times columnist Lilly Higgins.
Returning to the famous “Bake Off” tent in Tinakilly House, Co Wicklow, the series was full of sweet surprises, with the judges more cut-throat than ever and not holding back when critiquing each of the aspiring, hungry bakers.
With lots more mouth-watering and delectable desserts to feast your eyes on, viewers experienced the baking triumphs and catastrophes from each passionate baking contestant.
The series premiere begins with “Dessert Week”. The 12 bakers were challenged to impress the judges with their Signature Bake and their first opportunity to show the judges what they are made of. Also contestants were faced with a dreaded technical challenge – exotic cheesecake – where they were met with a tough test of precision, timing and presentation, only revealed to them at their workstations.
