In 2015 Sideline was delighted to announce a successful BAI Sound and Vision funding for a major radio comedy initiative – the first and the largest of its kind for Irish radio.

COMEDY SHOWHOUSE featured brand new radio series featuring new and established Irish writers / performers. These 12 half hours will be joined by a 6 part series for the original panel show format Don’t Quote Me!already broadcast in 2013 & 2014 and a proven hit for RTE Radio 1.  The new 6 part series with Sean Hughes, Al Porter, Fiona Looney, Karl Spain, Andrew Maxwell plus special guests is on air in July & August 2016. The 18 live radio recordings were part of a wider mini comedy festival project staged live at a city centre venue in February 2016. Another Comedy Showhouse – this time with radio sitcoms recordings – will hopefully be funded by the BAI for 2017.

COMEDY SHOWHOUSE 2016 was backed by national broadcaster RTE Radio 1 and thanks to both BAI and RTE Radio for their ongoing support for new Irish comedy writers.
