What happens when you cast 6 largely English-speaking choirs and they have to learn, rehearse and perform the most popular Gaelic songs ever sung by Irish school children? An Cór – aired during Seachtain na Gaeilge 2010 & 2011 and presented by Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin – featured 6 choirs of all styles from all over Ireland.

All 6 choirs competed in a choir-off in each of the first 3 shows with the winner of each heat going through to the grand final at The Helix in Dublin in front of a packed audience.

In the shows viewers learnt the history of the songs and Aoibhinn, a traditional Irish musician herself, meets the choirs as they attempt to impress the judging panel with their final polished version. This original TV format TV was nominated as Best Entertainment Series at the 2011 Celtic Media Awards.
